Design
Except for the weight, Blackberry Z30 is a well crafted device. It is considerably thicker (9.4mm) & heavier (170g) than Z10, thanks to the larger display & bulky battery. The controls seem to be well placed with power button at the top, microUSB & microHDMI ports on the left side whereas volume keys & voice command are on the right side. The right side also features two microphones. There are in all four microphones to help noise cancellation resulting into better audio especially during BBM video calls. There are stereo speakers placed at the top as well as bottom. The back is completely removable and is grippy.
Display
The device has a vibrant 5" Super AMOLED display with 720*1280 px resolution, which enables good viewing angles, both horizontally & vertically. The superior quality of anti reflection coating ensures good viewing experience even in direct sunlight.
Processor & Memory
Blackberry Z10 runs a dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with 2GB of RAM which are sufficient to ensure smooth basic as well as complex operations like gaming. The built in storage is 16GB but has a microSD card slot with capacity of up to 64GB.
OS
It is the first phone which has been launched with BB 10.2 OS and the update will be seeded to some of the recent Blackberry devices as well like Z10, Q10 & Q5.
Connectivity
BlackBerry Z30 is quiet equipped in terms of connectivity with LTE and HSPA. The device also features other necessary Wi-Fi protocols such as 'n' on the 5 GHz band, Micro HDMI port, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0.
Camera
The phone has an 8MP main camera with an f/2.2 lens and 1080p video recording capabilities. At the front there’s a 2MP which takes care of video chatting & records 720p video. The camera is quickly accessible in 2-3 ways and results into a decent picture quality.
What's new?
Apart from the OS, the Blackberry Z30 sports a couple of new features like lock screen preview and priority hub. The lock screen preview gives a peek into unread alerts without unlocking the phone. The priority hub enables easy access to important alerts. This is done by system which automatically prioritizes the frequently used contacts/conversations. One can also set the priority manually.
Overall the phone is a good buy as it brings a few new things to the Blackberry chain.
